KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has offered condolences to the family of Mariamah Tijo, 76, who passed away today.
Fahmi described Mariamah as a legendary figure with a golden voice that generations grew up listening to.
“That voice was once our faithful companion. Now all we have are memories that can never be replaced.
"In 2024, I presented to her with a donation from Tabung Kasih@HAWANA through her son, as a gesture of the government's support for media veterans," he said in a Facebook post.
Fahmi said Mariamah's long tenure at Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) as a radio announcer and broadcaster, from the 1970s to 2006, was marked by great dedication and service.
He prayed for her soul to be showered with mercy and placed among the faithful.
