WASHINGTON, April 22 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- An expected trip by US Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan for a second round of talks with Iran will not be happening on Tuesday, a White House official said, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
"In light of President (Donald) Trump’s Truth Social post confirming the United States is awaiting a unified proposal from the Iranians, the trip to Pakistan will not be happening today," the official was quoted as saying by the press pool.
Trump said on Tuesday that Washington would extend its ceasefire with Iran to allow time for Tehran to prepare a "unified proposal" following a request by Pakistani officials.
His announcement came as a US delegation led by Vance was expected to travel to Islamabad on Tuesday for a second round of face-to-face talks with Iran, though the trip was delayed due to additional policy meetings at the White House, according to US officials.
The negotiations would have followed an initial round of high-level engagement in Pakistan earlier this month, which ended without a breakthrough.
The ceasefire, initially announced earlier this month, had been set to expire on Wednesday.
