TOKYO, April 21 (Bernama-Kyodo) -- Haneda airport in Tokyo suffered a glitch in its air traffic control system on Tuesday morning, causing flight delays and cancellations, Kyodo News reported, citing the transport ministry.
The issue, which occurred at around 7.15 am, appears to have prevented transmissions of Haneda's flight plans to other airports in the country, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said.
Although the system was restored some 15 minutes later, the trouble disrupted the schedules of many flights at Haneda and other airports.
All Nippon Airways had cancelled 30 domestic flights, mainly those to and from Haneda, and Japan Airlines had cancelled 53 flights as of 10 am.
The cancellations affected around 14,000 people, according to the airlines.
