IPOH, March 31 (Bernama) -- Determination to uplift her family drove a 2025 SPM school leaver to excel, scoring 9A in the examination results released today.
Wan Aleya Batrisyia Meor Ruslan, 18, from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Raja Permaisuri Bainun, described her achievement as a meaningful gift to her parents, both factory workers who have worked tirelessly to support the family.
“I’m truly grateful and didn’t expect these results. I believe education is the key to changing my family’s future, and my parents have always encouraged me to succeed,” she said when met at the state-level SPM results announcement here today.
The eldest of three siblings said consistent study habits, good time management and adapting her learning methods to suit each subject contributed to her success.
She also maintained a disciplined revision routine and emphasised understanding rather than memorisation.
Driven by her parents’ sacrifices, she is determined to pursue higher education and improve her family’s living conditions, although she admits concerns over the cost of further studies.
She hopes to study engineering and aspires to become a lecturer.
Meanwhile, fellow top scorer Damia Safia Saat, 18, was equally surprised to achieve 9A after previously scoring 7A and 2C in her trial examination.
She credited her improvement to consistent effort, strong support from her family and teachers, as well as disciplined revision, dedicating several hours daily to her studies.
Damia plans to further her studies in pharmacy at Universiti Malaya and is also open to opportunities abroad, depending on available offers.
