KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 (Bernama) -- Jumio, a provider of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered identity intelligence anchored in biometric authentication, automation, and data-driven insights, has successfully completed the Independent electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) Breakthrough Assessment required by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) with zero findings.

In a statement, Jumio said the assessment confirmed the company’s solution passed 100 per cent of the criteria.

“Passing the BNM independent assessment with zero findings is a major milestone and a strong validation of our identity verification, facial recognition, and liveness capabilities.

“Banks and fintechs in Malaysia who choose Jumio as their eKYC solution can onboard customers faster, meet or exceed Anti-Money Laundering (AML) expectations, and operate confidently under Malaysia’s evolving digital ID framework,” said Jumio vice president and managing director, APAC, Ee Khoon Oon.

The stringent BNM requirements for eKYC vendors focus on three core pillars, namely ID verification for identifying manipulated instances of the MyKad (Malaysian National ID), facial recognition for matching user selfies against ID photos, and liveness detection for ensuring the user is real and preventing spoofing/deepfake attempts.

Jumio partnered with independent auditor LGMS, a cybersecurity and assessment firm in Malaysia with extensive experience conducting the BNM assessment.

Jumio has maintained a presence in the Asia Pacific since 2018, and this achievement reflects the company’s ongoing experience supporting regulated financial institutions across the region and globally.
