KOTA KINABALU, March 7 (Bernama) -- Sabah FC are determined to win against Kuching City FC in the tomorrow night’s ‘Borneo Derby’ at the State Stadium in Kuching even though they expect their rivals to put up a tough fight.

Sabah FC head coach Juan Torres Garrido said his players were on track to win their Super League match even with a tight match schedule and several players still recovering from injury.

“The team is improving day by day. What’s most important is to ensure players recover well physically even with limited training sessions due to our tight schedule.

But I’m still very happy with the attitude and commitment shown by players,” he said in a statement today, adding that several players have stepped up to greater roles by playing the full 90 minutes for two matches every week, including away matches.

He also indicated that he would not want to dwell on the team’s previous 0-1 loss to Kuching City this season, preferring to focus fully on the upcoming match.

"I don’t like to talk about the past. From early on, our objective is to ensure no team beats us easily.

"This match will be tough as we are against a strong team and playing away. This is a match where everyone wants to play and it will provide additional motivation to the team,” he added.
