02/03/2026 10:20 PM

DOHA, March 2 (Bernama-dpa) — Qatar said on Monday it will stop liquefied natural gas (LNG) production, after two sites were attacked by Iranian drones amid a regional escalation following US-Israeli attacks on Iran, the German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

"Due to military attacks on QatarEnergy's operating facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City and Mesaieed Industrial City in the State of Qatar, QatarEnergy has ceased production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and associated products," the state-owned company said.

Ras Laffan is the Gulf country's main site for LNG production and is located some 80 kilometres north of Doha.

The Ministry of Defence had reported that Iran launched two drones attacking these sites, without causing any casualties.

Qatar has the world's third-largest gas reserves and is the leading exporter of LNG.
