KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (Toshiba) has started providing engineering samples of “TB9104FTG”, a gate driver for bridge circuits used in high-current automotive brushed DC motors.

Toshiba in a statement said the product is suitable for body system applications such as power back doors, power sliding doors, and power seats.

The accelerating electrification of movable components in vehicles has increased the number of motors installed, driving demand for more compact driver systems and lighter wiring harnesses.

TB9104FTG comes in a small VQFN32 package with an exposed thermal pad to enhance heat dissipation. Combined with external MOSFETs, it enables compact drive circuits for high-current brushed DC motors.

The device features a serial peripheral interface (SPI) for microcontroller connection, allowing multiple gate drivers to share the SPI bus and reduce wiring complexity. It also includes a built-in Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) drive circuit, enabling continuous motor operation with a single rotation command while lowering microcontroller load and easing SPI bus congestion.

Safety features include a high-precision current sense amplifier for monitoring motor drive current, along with abnormality detection and drive-stop functions.

A leading supplier of advanced semiconductor and storage solutions, Toshiba plans to expand its lineup of driver ICs for automotive motors, supporting the electrification and enhanced safety of vehicle systems.
