CAMBODIA

 

1.RESTORING GARMENT SECTOR COMPETITIVENESS -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

Cambodia aims to enhance its garment, footwear, and travel goods sector by integrating micro, small, and medium enterprises into global supply chains while improving productivity. Currently, the Kingdom has more than 3,000 factories operating in the sector.

 

2.TASK FORCE TO REDEVELOP BORDER AREAS -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

The government has mobilised a specialised task force for the reconstruction of infrastructure and demining activities in border provinces. The team is conducting impact assessments along the areas affected by the Cambodia-Thailand conflict.

President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the revocation of business licenses held by 28 forestry, mining, and plantation companies found to have violated regulations and caused environmental damage, a senior aide said on Tuesday.

 

2.INDONESIA'S SWF DANANTARA TARGETS TRIPLING ASSETS BY 2030 - ANTARA

Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia aims to triple its assets by 2030 by overhauling and consolidating hundreds of state-owned enterprises, a senior executive said Tuesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

1.ENGAGING WOMEN TO PROTECT COMMUNITY UNITY -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

The Lao Women’s Union and The Asia Foundation will enhance women’s leadership in peace and security. Activities will be held in 80 villages to promote leadership among women in resolving community crises. 

 

2.UPGRADING RURAL EDUCATION QUALITY -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

The Education Ministry will spend RM5.5 million (US$1.4 million)  to improve education in four southern provinces. The programme aims to improve access to education and enhance teaching quality for students in rural and disadvantaged communities.

 

MYANMAR 

 

1.GROWING SNOW LEOPARD POPULATION -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Researchers have recorded 10,000 snow leopard movements using infrared camera surveys along the Myanmar-China border areas. The Khakaborazi National Park, located along Myanmar’s northern glacier ranges, is a popular habitat for the vulnerable snow leopard.

 

2.HONOURING MON COMMUNITY LEGACY -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The 79th Mon National Day celebration will be held on February 2 at the National Theatre in Yangon. The event is to preserve and promote the traditional cultural heritage of the Mon people.
