LABUAN, Jan 16 (Bernama) -- Flexi Flex Group, which began operations on this duty-free island in 2014 with limited resources but strong determination, has grown into a recognised industry player in Labuan as it celebrates its 12th anniversary this year.
Its chief executive officer, Vijay Sharma, said the hydraulics company’s growth has been driven by belief, commitment, and a long-term focus on capability building, including sustained investments in research and development.
“Over the past 12 years, step by step, we have expanded our capabilities and services, which led to several key milestones that we are proud of as a team,” he said in his speech at the company’s anniversary dinner here.
Sharma said as the business expanded, Flexi Flex diversified into ship repair services, acquired its own vessel, and established a calibration laboratory, strengthening its ability to provide comprehensive and reliable services in the industry.
He said people remained the cornerstone of the company’s success, noting that Flexi Flex employs more than 200 Malaysians, all of whom are local staff.
“Even as a foreign entity, we made a conscious decision to hire 100 per cent local employees because we strongly believe in training local talent and growing together. Today, we can clearly see the results of that belief,” he added.
Sharma said that what started as a small company has now become a recognised name in Labuan, supported by its recent recognition as one of the country’s top-performing small and medium enterprises.
During the event, Flexi Flex also presented certificates of appreciation to several government officials in recognition of their support in the oil and gas sector and collaboration with the company.
Looking ahead, Sharma said Flexi Flex remains committed to innovation, safety, quality, and strong partnerships, while continuing to contribute to Labuan’s economic growth and the wider industry.
