MELAKA, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- An Indonesian man was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment by the Ayer Keroh Magistrate’s Court here today after pleading guilty to using a fake copy of another person’s identity card.
Magistrate Nur Afiqah Radhiah Zainurin imposed the sentence on Abdul Adi, 47, to be served from the date of his arrest on Jan 8.
Abdul Adi was charged with using a copy of another individual’s identity card without lawful authority or reasonable cause following investigations that revealed that a comparison of his thumbprint and image with records from the National Registration Department’s (JPN) KP10 Identity Card Register Extract did not match and did not belong to the accused.
He was charged with committing the offence at the Enforcement Division of the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) at noon last Jan 8.
The court was told that the accused had used the copied identity card to obtain a trishaw licence from the Melaka Historical City Council (MBMB) in 2023, as well as to secure a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) card.
