KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has shared the ministry’s achievements over the past three years, underscoring their significant impact on the digital communications ecosystem, technology infrastructure, internet safety, creative content and media development, as well as government information delivery.
In a video post on social media today, he thanked the public for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to approaching 2026 with renewed spirit.
“Thank you and goodbye 2025. Bring it on, 2026!” he said.
Among the achievements shared in the two-minute-11-second video is the establishment of 1,099 National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI), including one still under construction.
These centres have benefited 1.9 million users, facilitating the delivery of government information and services to the public.
In addition, the Ministry of Communications has recorded key successes in the tabling and approval of several bills in Parliament, including the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) (Amendment) Bill 2025, Communications and Multimedia (Amendment) Bill 2024, Bernama (Amendment) Bill 2024, and the Malaysian Media Council Bill 2024, aimed at strengthening governance in the country’s media and communications sectors.
In its efforts to expand technology coverage, the ministry also achieved 5G coverage of 82.4 per cent in populated areas, with a second 5G network reaching 61.3 per cent.
To drive the creative industry, the ministry, through the Music Industry Creative Content Fund (DKK) and the Matching Fund Scheme (SDP), has supported 299 film production projects.
Additionally, 224 recipients received funding for the music industry, and 13,185 jobs were successfully created.
Some 580 media practitioners have benefited from the Kasih@HAWANA Fund, an initiative by the ministry implemented through the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama).
The initiative symbolises the MADANI Government's commitment to nurturing compassion, empathy, and appreciation for media practitioners in the country.
On the international front, the ministry has also established cooperation in the field of communications and media with Timor Leste, participated in the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2025 (WTDC-25) in Baku, Azerbaijan, and signed 15 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) involving 11 countries in 2025.
To strengthen internet safety, the Safe Internet Campaign was implemented in 8,464 schools nationwide, reaching 369,000 students.
It was also carried out in 61 higher education institutions, involving 20,180 students, and at the community level in 429 communities, with 257,593 participants.
Furthermore, the ministry achieved notable success through the operation of the Mobile Integrated Radio and Internet Communication System (PRIME), a vehicle-based mobile communication system equipped with satellite, radio, Wi-Fi, and cellular technology to ensure continuous communication during disasters.
Three PRIME units have been activated in Sabah, Sarawak, and Peninsular Malaysia.
“The ministry’s achievements are driven by the strong support of the people and a continued commitment to serve, strengthening national communications for the country’s progress, stability and well-being,” the text in the video read.
