KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- The Bukit Jalil National Stadium, the main home ground of Harimau Malaya, has received an excellent rating with a score of 86 per cent under the FIFA Natural Playing Surfaces Quality Programme.
Malaysian Stadium Corporation (PSM) chief executive officer Iliyas Jamil said the rating was awarded last week following pitch quality tests conducted by the relevant parties in October.
“This is the first time we have undergone a FIFA rating exercise after it was proposed by PSM board of directors member Datuk Windsor Paul.
“We scored 86 per cent in the assessment, which is good because an excellent rating requires a score of more than 85 per cent,” he told Bernama today.
According to him, the rating is a recognition of the efforts of PSM staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure the pitch remains in top condition despite various concerts being held at the stadium.
“With the SOP we developed internally, we have managed to keep the grass in good condition.
“In fact, the expertise we use to maintain the playing surface is 100 per cent local, and we are also willing to share it with parties who need it,” he said.
