KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia stayed lower at mid-morning as mild profit-taking activities emerged in selected heavyweights, as cautious sentiments abound.
At 11.04 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 5.63 points to 1,675.36 from Monday’s close of 1,680.99. The index opened 3.33 points lower at 1,677.66.
The market breadth was negative with decliners outnumbering advancers 386 to 293, while 477 counters were unchanged, 1,567 untraded, and 78 suspended.
Turnover stood at 574.81 million units worth RM361.04 million.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank fell two sen to RM10.42, CIMB eased five sen to RM8.18, Tenaga Nasional lost 12 sen to RM13.76, Public Bank slipped one sen to RM4.50 and IHH shed three sen to RM8.53.
On the most active list, TWL, MQ Tech and Tanco were all flat at 2.5 sen, 8.5 sen and RM1.140, respectively, while Mega Fortis lost half a sen to 79.5 sen.
Of the top gainers, Dutch Lady rose 30 sen to RM31.10, Hong Leong Industries garnered 24 sen to RM16.64 and Bintulu Port added 17 sen to RM5.48.
As for the top losers, Nestle dropped RM1.30 sen to RM114.40, KL Kepong gave up 28 sen to RM19.80 and MISC shed 15 sen to RM7.65.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index slid 22.31 points to 12,282.58, the FBMT Top 100 Index declined 22.53 points to 12,086.80, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index fell 21.13 points to 12,092.79.
The FBM Mid 70 Index went up 50.09 points to 16,836.03, and the FBM ACE Index lost 7.15 points to 4,867.63.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index dropped 23.17 points to 19,653.82 and the Plantation Index shaved 64.80 points to 8,257.32, while the Energy Index gained 0.66 of-a-point to 765.58 and the Industrial Products and Services Index rose 0.27 of a point to 174.19.
