KUALA NERUS, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) has launched the UniSZA BRIGHT Programme to provide opportunities for B40 students to pursue postgraduate studies.
UniSZA Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Fadzli Adam said that through the programme, the university collaborated with industry partners to raise and channel scholarship funds to selected students.
He said that for a start, RM300,000 had been successfully raised and five students would be selected to pursue studies in fields including Islamic Economics, Islamic Finance, Muamalat Administration, Islamic Banking, Halal Management, as well as Islamic Financial Planning and Wealth Management.
“This programme is being introduced for the first time by UniSZA to provide opportunities for undergraduate students, particularly from the B40 group, to further their studies to a higher level.
“So far, we have managed to secure RM300,000 in funds from companies and it will be used to sponsor two Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students and three Master’s students,” he said at the launch of the UniSZA BRIGHT Programme here today.
He said that through the programme, recipients were eligible to receive funding of up to RM50,000 for Master’s studies and RM75,000 for PhD studies, covering tuition fees, living allowances, research grants and publication costs.
Fadzli said the UniSZA BRIGHT Programme not only provided financial support, but also served as a catalyst for building a sustainable, high-impact and continuous postgraduate ecosystem.
According to him, the university aims to raise RM1 million in funds by the end of next year to finance more students in various fields such as medicine and law.
“We are intensifying efforts and cooperation with industry partners to secure more funds to expand this initiative.
“Applications for this programme will open on Jan 1, 2026 and close on Feb 15,” he said.
