02/11/2025 11:33 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been advised to cancel his scheduled working visit to Pahang today, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

In a statement today, the PMO said that the last-minute decision was made on the advice of the medical team after Anwar suffered back pain, which has restricted his movement.

“On the doctor’s advice, the Prime Minister has been advised to take adequate rest,” read the statement.

The PMO said Anwar conveys his apologies, especially to the people of Pahang, who had made preparations to welcome him.

Anwar was slated to officiate the closing ceremony of the 2025 Hawkers and Small Traders Carnival in Temerloh and attend the Temu Anwar@UMPSA programme at the UMPSA Sports Complex, Gambang Campus.

He was also scheduled to attend an engagement session with Kuantan industry leaders at the Department of Manpower’s Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC) in Kuantan.

The Prime Minister returned to Malaysia yesterday after concluding his working visit to South Korea, where he led the Malaysian delegation to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) on Friday.

Earlier, Anwar chaired the 47th ASEAN Summit, which brought together influential world leaders in the capital from Oct 26 to 28.
