IPOH, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) has invited the public to its three-day ConvoFest, in conjunction with its 25th convocation, from today.
UTP said that, as part of its silver jubilee convocation, the ConvoFest at its campus will feature various sports activities, exhibitions, games, bazaars, cultural performances and live music.
“Visitors can also enjoy a variety of delicacies and beverages, making it a lively gathering for the UTP community and the public alike,” it said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, the Oct 26-27 convocation will involve 1,441 graduates, comprising 1,031 undergraduates, 326 Master’s degree recipients and 84 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) holders.
“Alongside the Alumni Homecoming Event, which will reunite more than 500 alumni, including members of UTP’s first graduating batch, who will proudly lead the convocation procession,” it added.
Organising Committee chairman Shamsina Shaharun said the ConvoFest is an opportunity to celebrate with the university’s surrounding community and showcase the spirit of unity and achievement.
She said this year’s convocation is especially meaningful as it marks a quarter-century of nurturing talent, advancing research and contributing to the nation’s progress.
“The ConvoFest brings together our students, alumni, staff and the community to celebrate that shared journey,” she said.
Apart from ConvoFest, other events organised in conjunction with the convocation ceremony include the ConvoDash Run, the UTP Daiwa Bass Master Challenge fishing competition and ConvoRide cycling.
