WASHINGTON, Oct 12 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Sixteen people are presumed dead after an explosion that occurred Friday in the US state of Tennessee at the Accurate Energy Systems plant, which manufactured explosives, Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

On Friday, Davis announced that several people had been killed and 19 missing as a result of the explosion at the plant, which produced shaped charges, which have been observed, among other things, in Ukrainian Armed Forces' weapons.

"We have contacted all 16 families that we feel was a part of this tragedy," Davis said Saturday evening during a press conference.

The sheriff answered affirmatively when asked whether the 16 people could be presumed dead.
