PUTRAJAYA, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The Election Commission (EC) has opened applications for government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and interested bodies to serve as election observers for the upcoming 17th State Election of Sabah.
In a statement today, the EC said that election observers will have the opportunity to monitor the election process from candidate nominations through to the announcement of election results.
“Applications to become election observers are open starting today. The closing date for applications will be announced after the special EC meeting on Sabah Election,” the statement read.
The special meeting, scheduled for Oct 16, will decide the important dates for the election and other related matters.
Last Monday, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced the dissolution of the Sabah State Assembly, which warrants a State Election within the next 60 days.
