LTDL25: DAZZLING DRONE SHOW AT TEAM INTRODUCTION CEREMONY

LANGKAWI, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- A total of 22 teams competing in the 29th edition of Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2025 were introduced in a grand ceremony at Dataran Lang, Kuah, here today.

This is the second consecutive time Langkawi has hosted the symbolic event before the prestigious Asian cycling race officially opens this Sunday.

The ceremony was also graced with a light show involving 380 drones that adorned the sky at Dataran Lang, mesmerising visitors.

Also present at the ceremony were Kedah State Youth and Sports Exco Radhi Mat Din; deputy secretary-general of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Abdullah Hasan; and National Sports Council director Jefri Ngadirin Abdullah Hassan.

A total of 130 riders consisting of two WorldTeam status teams, nine ProTeams, 10 Continentals and the national squad will compete in this edition

LTdL 2025, which has 2.ProSeries status in the International Cycling Union (UCI) Asia Tour calendar, will take place from Sept 28 to Oct 5, involving eight stages with a total distance of 1,244.2 kilometres. This race is organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) through the National Sports Council (MSN) in collaboration with the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF).

The competition will begin with Stage 1 in Langkawi Island (Sept 28), followed by Stage 2 Padang Besar, Perlis–Kepala Batas, Penang; Stage 3 Gerik, Perak–Pasir Puteh, Kelantan; Stage 4 Kuala Terengganu–Kemaman; Stage 5 Temerloh–Bukit Fraser, Pahang; Stage 6 Shah Alam, Selangor–Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan; Stage 7 Melaka–Medini, Johor; before concluding with Stage 8 Tangkak, Johor–Kuala Lumpur on Oct 5.

For Stage 1 this Sunday, the riders will cover a 96.7km route around Langkawi Island which also involves a category four climb at Bukit Malut as well as three sprint zones at Harbour Park, Bayas and Padang Matsirat.
