DRONE SIGHTING DISRUPTS FLIGHTS AT COPENHAGEN AIRPORT

23/09/2025 12:14 PM

COPENHAGEN, Sept 23 (Bernama-dpa) -- Air traffic at Copenhagen Airport was temporarily suspended after drones were spotted near the airfield, Copenhagen police said late on Monday, reported German news agency dpa.

The airport was briefly closed to take-offs and landings.

"Copenhagen Airport has reopened after being closed due to drone activity," Copenhagen Kastrup Airport said early on Tuesday.

"However, there will be delays and some cancelled departures," the airport said in an advisory. "Passengers are advised to check with their airline for further information."

The airport is one of Scandinavia's largest, alongside Stockholm Arlanda and Oslo Gardermoen.

Several flights due to depart or arrive in Copenhagen were either delayed, cancelled or diverted to other airports including Billund, a small town west of Copenhagen, and Gothenburg in Sweden.

The cause of the drone activity remains unknown. The incident comes shortly after a cyberattack on an IT service provider disrupted operations at several European airports, including Berlin, Brussels, London Heathrow and Dublin.
