KUANTAN, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- The national futsal squad thrashed Bangladesh 7-1 in their 2026 Futsal Asian Cup Group G qualifying match at SUKPA indoor stadium here tonight.

Both teams were aggressive right from the start, and national striker Mohamad Awwalluddin Nawi scored the first goal in just seven minutes but Bangladesh struck back a minute later through Fayed Azim.

Malaysia then struck two goals in swift succession, with Mohamad Danial Dain scoring in the 16th minute followed by Mahadir Harahap Khairuddin in the 18th minute to go 3-1 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, Malaysia proved to be the dominant team, scoring another two goals in a span of five minutes, with Syahir Iqbal Khan in the 23th minute and then Mahadir again in the 28th.

The last two goals came from Muhammad Saad Sani in the 35th minute, and finally Muhammad Faris scored the seventh and final goal of the match seconds later.

The result means Malaysia is now second in Group G with six points, behind leaders Iran, who also have six points but with a better goal advantage.

Both teams will meet in their last Group G match on Sept 24 to determine the group’s winner and the automatic berth to the 2026 Futsal Asian Cup in Indonesia next January.
