KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-12, currently serving under the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, celebrated the 62nd Malaysia Day with a 10-kilometre ‘Fun Run’.

In a statement today, MALBATT 850-12 said the programme was held to ignite patriotic spirit among its members despite being far from home, while also maintaining their fitness.

The run was flagged off by MALBATT 850-12 Commander Col Johan Effendi Mohd Shalleh, who also joined personnel of various ranks in the event, reflecting the strength and unity of the battalion.

“The ‘Fun Run’ was not only a fitness activity but also symbolic of MALBATT’s love for the homeland and their commitment to remain disciplined and motivated in carrying out the peacekeeping mission under the United Nations,” it said.

MALBATT 850-12 is scheduled to return home in phases by November and will be replaced by MALBATT 850-13, which will include a platoon from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
