FOREIGN DIPLOMATS CONVEY INDEPENDENCE DAY WISHES TO MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- Foreign diplomats in Malaysia have extended congratulatory messages to the people of Malaysia on the occasion of the 68th National Day as a sign of friendship and shared aspirations for peace and progress.

Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, Datuk Hermono, extended heartfelt greetings on Malaysia’s National Day and Malaysia Day, reaffirming the close friendship between the two nations.

“The two events (Independence Day and Malaysia Day celebrations) form the basis of the history of Malaysia’s struggles for unity and the nation.

“As ambassador, I am confident that the ties between Indonesia and Malaysia will grow stronger, enabling an important role in the safeguarding of peace, stability, and prosperity of Southeast Asia,” he said in a video message posted on Bernama’s official Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Japanese Ambassador Noriyuki Shikata described Merdeka as a celebration of freedom, unity, and Malaysia’s remarkable progress, citing the country’s expanding public transport system as a striking example of development.

“From the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) and LRT (Light Rail Transit) to the DRT (Demand-Responsive Transit) and more, these networks connect people and create opportunities for many.

“Japan is humbled to have supported the development of Malaysia’s public transport through decades of cooperation and sharing of technology. But the true success belongs to the Malaysian people, whose vision and determination continue to drive this nation forward,” he said in a video.

On behalf of the embassy, Shikata wished Malaysia lasting peace, prosperity and progress, expressing confidence that ties between Malaysia and Japan will grow even stronger.

Delivering his message in Bahasa Melayu, Yemen’s Ambassador Dr Adel Mohamed Ba Hamid conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the government, and the people.

“Semoga hubungan persaudaraan antara Yaman dan Malaysia terus erat, dan semoga Malaysia sentiasa maju, aman dan makmur. Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan ke-68,” (May the bond between Yemen and Malaysia continue to be strong, and may Malaysia always be blessed with progress, peace, and prosperity. Happy 68th Independence Day) he said in a video message.

Meanwhile, Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Danielle Heinecke, said: “Selamat Hari Merdeka Malaysia. Saya sangat gembira untuk menyambut Hari Merdeka bersama anda semua.” (Happy Independence Day. I am very happy to be celebrating Merdeka Day with all of you).

She shared her admiration for Malaysia’s diverse food and restaurants, rich natural wildlife, and the beauty of the Perhentian Islands.

“We’re thrilled to also be celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Australia and Malaysia,” she said. 

On behalf of the government, the people and the Embassy of Iran in Malaysia, Ambassador Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi extended his warmest congratulations on Malaysia’s 68th Independence Day.

“This significant occasion reminds us of our shared heritage, unity, and progress, grounded in mutual values of friendship and solidarity.

“As we look back at the journey, let us continue to strive for excellence, innovation, and collaboration, ensuring that our togetherness remains a beacon of strength and harmony. Together, we can build a brighter future for all,” he said.
