GIVE TIME, SPACE TO KPKT MINISTER TO EXPLAIN URBAN RENEWAL BILL – RAMANAN

30/08/2025 01:28 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- Sungai Buloh MP Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has urged all parties to give Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming time and space to explain the Urban Renewal Bill.

The Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister said the bill should not be hastily assessed from one perspective without detailed clarifications from the ministry

“This bill has already been tabled, and we should first observe how it is handled. There may be several aspects under debate, but we should give the minister time and space to provide explanations.

“After we have received a full and detailed explanation, only then can we make a decision. We cannot decide based on just one chapter; we must consider the whole picture,” he said when met at the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency Ride Merdeka MADANI programme today.

When asked about its impact on the Indian community, Ramanan emphasised that the government has already implemented various initiatives to improve their living standards, referring to recent announcements by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, including allocations for estate workers, the provision of ICT laboratories for Tamil schools, and educational assistance for students in public and private universities.

“…the Indian community is currently receiving many benefits…Much has been provided, especially through the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) and Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) initiatives,” he said.

In addition, Ramanan said Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) has also introduced a special programme for the Indian community called Prosperity, Empowerment and a New Normal (PENN), benefiting over 11,000 Indian women.

On today’s event, Ramanan said the programme, organised by AIM, aims to ignite the spirit of independence by cultivating family values and unity among the multicultural residents.

The motorcycle convoy comprised more than 1,000 participants from various races and age groups.
