ANWAR ARRIVES FOR 'MALAM HIMPUNAN DAN SELAWAT MALAYSIAKU BERSAMA GAZA’

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attended the “Malam Himpunan dan Selawat - Malaysiaku Bersama Gaza”, the highlight of the Sumud Nusantara Carnival 2025, at Dataran Merdeka today.

Anwar arrived here at 9.06 pm, accompanied by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar and Sumud Nusantara director-general Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman, who is also the Cinta Gaza Malaysia (CGM) chief executive officer.

Also present were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

Fahmi, Mohd Na’im and Dr Zaliha are also the patrons of the three-day Sumud Nusantara Carnival 2025, which began on Friday.

One of the highlights tonight is definitely the special solidarity lecture titled "Malaysiaku Bersama Gaza" by the Prime Minister, who will then flag off the Sumud Nusantara Convoy delegation for a humanitarian flotilla mission to Gaza.

The Sumud Nusantara Convoy brings together delegations from Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, the Philippines and Thailand.

Apart from that, Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM) chief executive officer Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby will read out the Sumud Nusantara Declaration.

Tonight's programme will also feature a solat hajat for the liberation of Gaza, a 'Tausiyah Peduli Ummah’ (lecture of care for the ummah) by renowned preachers and the recitation of Qunut Nazilah and selawat by the qasidah group Majelis AzZahir, under the leadership of Habib Ali Zainal Abidin Assegaf.

The Sumud Nusantara Carnival 2025, jointly organised by MAPIM and CGM, is held under the patronage of the Prime Minister, who is also the patron of Sumud Nusantara.

The crowd began converging on Dataran Merdeka from early this morning to enliven the carnival, which is filled with various interesting programmes, and those present tonight also wore white-themed attire as a sign of support and solidarity for the Palestinian cause.
