KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Terengganu FC has climbed to the top of the Super League table after a goal-fest, thrashing DPMM FC 5-0 in a match at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei tonight.
Terengganu midfielder Careca scored the fastest goal of the season, putting the 'Turtles' squad ahead just 11 seconds into the game.
Careca brilliantly read the game, intercepting a pass from a DPMM defender before charging into the penalty box and unleashing a powerful shot that beat goalkeeper Kristijan Naumovski.
Terengganu didn't wait long to score their second goal when midfielder Nurillo Tukhtasinov fired a solid shot that flew past the defensive line and beyond Naumovski's reach in the 16th minute.
The visiting team became even more comfortable, leading 3-0 in the 74th minute after Careca calmly converted a penalty awarded by referee Abang Azharudin Abdullah for a handball by Prosper Owusu.
Striker Yann Mabella and Muhammad Syahmi Zamri completed Terengganu's huge win, with each of them scoring in the 84th minute and during second-half extra time, respectively.
The victory allows the squad, coached by Badrul Afzan Razali, to take the top spot in the league with seven points after three matches, one point ahead of defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), who are scheduled to play against Kuching City FC at the State Stadium in Kuching this Sunday.
