KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- WorldTeam squad Team Picnic PostNL will be relying on the experience of Fabio Jakobsen to dominate the flat routes in the Le Tour de Langkawi 2025 (LTdL 2025) from Sept 28 to Oct 5.
The new task for the Dutch rider was announced by LTdL 2025 Chief Operating Officer Emir Abdul Jalal, who said that despite the absence of last year’s overall individual champion, Max Poole, in the team, Jakobsen is recognised as one of the world’s sprint specialists, making the final sprint to the finish line this year unpredictable.
“Jakobsen is a very big name as he has won a stage in the Tour de France and five stages in the Vuelta a España, including the Vuelta’s green sprint jersey in 2021.
“With a career tally of 46 victories so far, including at the TdF and Vuelta, Picnic PostNL look set to target stage wins on their second appearance in the race,” he said in a statement today.
Other riders listed in the Picnic PostNL squad include Bjorn Koerdl, Bram Welten, Dilion Corkery, Juan Guillermo Martinez and Jurgen Zommermaand.
LTdL 2025 will cover 12 states in Peninsular Malaysia with a total distance of 1,243.5 kilometres (km), featuring 22 teams including three WorldTeams, eight ProTeams, 10 Continental squads and one Malaysian national team.
The race begins in Langkawi (96.5km), followed by Padang Besar-Kepala Batas (170.1km), Gerik-Pasir Puteh (198.2km), Kuala Terengganu-Kemaman (140.8km), Temerloh-Bukit Fraser (133.7km), Shah Alam-Port Dickson (123.4km), Melaka-Medini (214.6km) and Tangkak-Kuala Lumpur (180.5km).
