PETALING JAYA, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- National junior kegler Qurratu’Ain Izdihar Mohd Pozi is counting on home ground advantage to roll her way to a podium finish at the week-long 22nd Asian Youth Bowling Championships, which began at the Sunway Mega Lanes, Sunway Pyramid, here today.

Fresh from her five-gold feat at the Under-18 Asian Junior Bowling Championships in Doha, Qatar, recently, the 17-year-old also believes that the intensive training she and her teammates have undergone can propel them to achieve podium finishes.

"We have been training intensively, including having morning and evening sessions - just like before we went to Doha. So, I feel that I am ready for my event tomorrow.

"As this will also be my last official tournament, I hope to keep the momentum going and get on the podium in all the events that I will be competing in,” she said when met at the launch of the 22nd Asian Youth Bowling Championships here today

The Selangor-born Qurratu’Ain also intends to use her five-gold feat in Doha to inspire her to reach greater heights on home ground.

The week-long tournament will feature several events, including singles, doubles, team and All-Events, before culminating with the Masters finals to crown the individual champions.

Malaysia will be represented by four bowlers in the boys’ category - Muhammad Danial Abu Samah, Wan Muhammad Zarif Ikram Wan Mazlan, Muhammad Aiman Syahin Sulaiman and Ethan Damien Goh.

Meanwhile, the girls’ team comprises Adania Mohd Redzwan, Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee, Qurratu'Ain and Nurul Anis Nabila Mohd Nizam.
