KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Under-20 (U-20) women's team secured their first victory in the 2026 AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers after beating Guam 2-0 in their final Group F match at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras, tonight.
It was a much-needed win for Cameron Ng's side to ease the disappointment of back-to-back defeats to Iran (0-3) and Japan (0-16) earlier in the group stage.
Both teams were evenly matched in the early stages of the game, but Kaseh Carmilla who eventually gave Malaysia the lead in the 63rd minute, secured the victory with a second goal in the 86th minute.
With the win, the national squad ended their group qualifying campaign in third place with three points.
Meanwhile, Japan topped Group F ahead of Iran after thrashing them 9-0 in the other group fixture.
Only the eight group winners and the three best second-placed teams will advance to the final round of the 2026 AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup in Thailand from April 1 to 18, 2026.
