In a statement today, the authorities said they seized 40 smoking-related products valued at RM673 in the latest operation yesterday, conducted 41 educational enforcement sessions with premises owners or representatives, and distributed 133 informational infographics on Act 852.
The operation involved 86 JKNNS enforcement officers alongside 25 personnel from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Royal Malaysia Police and Seremban City Council.
“Act 852 strictly targets harmful practices, including unethical marketing and promotion of tobacco and e-cigarette products to children and teenagers,” said the department in a statement.
Immediate actions were taken against violations involving prohibited promotions, advertising, sponsorships, sales to minors and non-compliance with no-smoking zones.
JKNNS pledged to intensify enforcement and advocacy efforts to safeguard public health, with special focus on protecting youth.
