KOTA TINGGI, June 29 (Bernama) -- The Johor government has announced 14 special initiatives for Felda community in the state, including 10 haj pilgrimage quotas for settlers, as a gesture of appreciation for their contributions.

Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the initiatives also include food baskets worth RM100 each for settlers with a total allocation of RM2.76 million, and education assistance for the children of Felda settlers.

“Assistance will also be extended to 71 Scheme Development and Security Committees, Felda Youth Council of Malaysia, the Women’s Association Movement, as well as mosques and surau,” he said at the Johor MADANI Felda Settlers’ Day celebration in Felda Tunggal here today.

Also present were Pengerang Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

Onn Hafiz also said that the state government will resolve the issue of abandoned second-generation housing projects in Felda Bukit Aping Timur and Felda Pasak.

“We now have the Felda Muafakat Secretariat. Insya-Allah, with strong cooperation from the management, I am determined to resolve this issue - one that has plagued us for the past seven years - within this year, for the benefit of Felda’s younger generation,” he said.
