PUTRAJAYA, June 26 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has reminded Public Higher Education Institutions (IPTA) and Private Higher Education Institutions (IPTS) to always comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by their respective universities as an ongoing measure to strengthen the safety and welfare aspects of students.

MOHE said that compliance is crucial to ensure that the security and welfare of students are always at the optimum level.

“This compliance is also important to ensure comprehensive protection for students under the responsibility of the university,” it said in a statement today.

It added that MOHE remains committed to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure every IPT maintains a safe, conducive and responsible environment for the well-being of students.

Referring to media reports about a female student of a university who was believed to have been murdered in a condominium in Cyberjaya on Tuesday (June 24), MOHE said the ministry is awaiting the full report on the investigation being conducted by the relevant authorities.

“As such, the MOHE urges the public not to make any speculations that could affect the investigation and the sensitivity of parties involved,” it added.

The MOHE also expressed its condolences to the family members of the deceased student.
