KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (Bernama) -- The Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI) on Sunday decried United States (US) attacks on the country’s nuclear facilities as blatant violations of international law, particularly the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

It condemned the attacks on nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, which are under the continuous supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), based on the Safeguards Agreement and the NPT Treaty.

“This action, contrary to international law, was unfortunately carried out in the shadow of indifference and even with the cooperation of the International Atomic Energy Agency,” it said in the statement as reported by the Tehran Times.

AEOI said that despite the attacks, the development of Iran’s nuclear industry would continue.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday confirmed that American forces had carried out strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites amid the ongoing conflicts between Israel and Iran.

Hostilities between Israel and Iran escalated since June 13 following Israel’s airstrikes on multiple locations in Iran, including military and nuclear sites, prompting Iran to retaliate.
