MAKKAH, June 10 (Bernama-SPA) -- As the executive arm of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, Kidana Development Company (Kidana) has implemented interconnected integrated services that transform the holy sites journey into a safe and comfortable experience, enabling pilgrims to perform their rituals with ease through a comprehensive system of sustainable and flexible services.

Prioritising development projects, Kidana's heat stress reduction initiatives along pedestrian pathways in Arafat and Mina, as well as cooling systems around Jabal Al-Rahmah and Namirah Mosque, achieved a 90 per cent reduction in heat stress cases this Hajj season, according to Saudi Health Ministry.

Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported during the Hajj season 1446 AH, Kidana implemented over 22 projects to enhance the holy sites' environment, focusing on infrastructure improvements, crowd flow facilitation, and creating a more organised pilgrim experience, it added.

Kidana deployed more than 4,500 water coolers and drinking fountains throughout the holy sites, elevating comfort during the Hajj journey. Strategically placed rest stops along pedestrian paths provide calming areas for pilgrims to regain their energy.

Additionally, Kidana produced and distributed one million awareness brochures in nine languages to guide pilgrims during Jamarat stoning, while also installing 6,300 informational signboards to educate visitors about the holy sites.

This Hajj season, health and emergency readiness were strengthened through the Mina Emergency Hospital project, which features a bridge and electric escalators connecting to main pathways for rapid emergency response.

The system included 71 ambulance dispatch points for swift intervention and 14 strategically located first-aid units to provide critical care during peak periods.

SPA reported Kidana also upgraded the accommodation system in Mina by introducing two-story tents to expand capacity.

The company also installed new electric escalators to enhance mobility for elderly pilgrims and developed over 100 commercial units across the holy sites to improve the overall pilgrim experience.
