MAKKAH, June 2 (Bernama) -- The National Centre for Security Operations of Saudi Arabia (NCSO) has assured pilgrims and the public that emergency calls during this year’s Hajj season will be answered in less than two seconds, reflecting a sharp focus on speed, efficiency, and safety.

With more than two million pilgrims expected to perform Hajj this year, the Unified Security Operations Centre (911) has launched a comprehensive operational plan to manage the immense logistical and safety demands of the pilgrimage.

According to officials, the 911 centre has undertaken meticulous preparations ahead of the Hajj season, beginning with the analysis of call data from previous years to forecast this year’s anticipated call volume.

This proactive approach has enabled the centre to expand its workforce and deploy additional call takers, ensuring that every call is answered promptly and that service quality remains consistent throughout the peak period.

“Every call to 911 is answered in less than two seconds, and within 45 seconds we relay a report to the specialised entities who can respond to the situation on the ground,” an official spokesman of NCSO, Abdulaziz Z Al Ghamdi, told Malaysian media while visiting the 911 Operations Centre here, Sunday.

Bernama was informed that the centre is equipped to handle calls in all the world’s languages, ensuring that every pilgrim, regardless of their nationality or language, can communicate their needs effectively.

Beyond the call centre, the security operations centre has strengthened its CCTV monitoring capabilities.

All holy sites are now fully equipped with surveillance cameras, enabling operators to monitor activities in real-time. As soon as any issue is detected, a report is immediately dispatched to the relevant field teams, who then attend to the matter promptly.

The spokesperson emphasised that the combined efforts of the call centre, multilingual support, CCTV monitoring, and rapid field response aim to guarantee the safety and well-being of all pilgrims.

“Our services are entirely dedicated to ensuring that the Guests of the Merciful can perform their religious duties in a secure and protected environment.”

The National Centre for Security Operations’ heightened preparedness underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to managing one of the world’s largest annual gatherings with precision, care, and inclusivity.
