KUALA KANGSAR, June 30 (Bernama) -- The Sejahtera MADANI initiative in Perak, which has so far distributed RM2.3 million in aid to around 2,000 beneficiaries, has been allocated an additional RM3 million to expand its implementation.
The Finance Minister’s political secretary, Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said the additional funding would enable more people, particularly micro-entrepreneurs, low-income earners, and students, to benefit, helping them improve their living standards and education.
"The aid provided is not just financial; it also includes equipping small-scale entrepreneurs with tools to boost business productivity, alongside incentives for students who achieved excellent results in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.
"This programme reflects the MADANI Government's commitment to ensuring that aid is targeted effectively and delivers a direct impact to the public. The approved RM3 million in additional funding will allow us to support more beneficiaries in the next phase," he said.
He spoke to reporters after officiating the Sejahtera MADANI roadshow for the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency at the Millennium Hall in Lubok Merbau today.
Earlier, 13 high-achieving SPM students entering higher education received laptops and five small-scale entrepreneurs were presented with business equipment to support their business growth and boost their income.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Kamil stated that monitoring of the SejaTi MADANI grant scheme will be stepped up to prevent further project failures or the mismanagement of public funds, stressing that closer supervision would be enforced, following the breakdown of several projects that failed to materialise as planned.
"The original approach of the programme was to allow local communities to determine their own project priorities; but we accept that the implementation suffered from several weaknesses.
"We must enforce tighter supervision. Flaws are inevitable, but ongoing monitoring will ensure no fraud or leakages occur during project implementation," he added.
