Johor Polls: MCMC To Ensure Optimum Internet Coverage Throughout Campaigning Period - Teo

26/06/2026 09:53 PM

PASIR GUDANG, June 26 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will ensure that internet coverage remains at an optimal level, especially in key locations throughout the Johor state election.

Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said stable internet access is crucial to facilitate the organisation of political rallies and the delivery of information to voters during the campaign period.

“I have instructed MCMC to carry out regular monitoring, especially in areas expected to receive large crowds. Good internet connectivity is an important element in ensuring that the campaign runs smoothly and effectively,” she told reporters after the launch of the Pakatan Harapan operations room for N40 Tiram at Taman Kota Masai here today.

Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh, Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan, Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah Wee Tse, and Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Tiram seat Nor Zulaila Abdul Ghani were also present at the launch.

Teo, who is also Johor DAP chief, said the party has so far received very positive and encouraging feedback from voters in the state.

She said ongoing ground campaigns show a high tendency among voters to fulfil their responsibilities, including those living outside their constituencies, which reflects their readiness to return to their hometowns to vote on polling day.

On party strategy, Teo said DAP will focus fully on all 17 seats it is contesting, without classifying any as “safe seats”.

“We cannot say that any seat is safe, because that may lead to complacency and reduce focus there.

“Our approach is to ensure every seat receives proper attention, taking into account the different challenges in each area,” she said.

Nominations are set for tomorrow, with early voting on July 7 and polling day on July 11.
