KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) -- Insight Capital Sdn Bhd emerged as the gross category champions in the second round of the Asian Business Golf Championship (ABGC) at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Shah Alam yesterday.
According to a statement issued by organiser Elora Global Sdn Bhd, the team of Datuk Shamsul Azman Mahadi (12 handicap) and Mohamad Hisham Sarjeet Abdullah (5) delivered an outstanding performance to claim the title with a score of five-under par.
"The pair of Hizir (5) and Mohd Firdaus Ahmad (3) of RHR Eco Works Sdn Bhd finished second, while Razid Sukiran (6) and Abu Qasim Mohamamed Salleh (10) of Can Builders Sdn Bhd took third place.
"In the nett category, with a lower combined handicap of four, Mohd Rasidi Abdul Rasid (scratch handicap) and Rajab Ahad Ismail (4) of Rotoplus Engineering Services emerged champions on countback after also finishing with the maximum score of five-under par," the statement said.
It added that Azlyi Hardi Senawi (7) and Ahmad Fuad Zainudin (6) of Air Selangor finished second in the nett category, while Jeffry (5) and Edzuanizam (11) of JZS Niaga & Nadi Tujuh Sdn Bhd came in third.
The ABGC, which has Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah as its patron and Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated and the Youth and Sports Ministry as supporters, features seven qualifying rounds at leading golf clubs across Malaysia.
The tournament attracted 88 participants from the corporate, business and professional sectors at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, using the Team Best Ball Strokeplay format for both the gross and nett categories.
The winners will compete in the grand final at The Els Club Teluk Datai, Langkawi, in October.
