KUCHING, June 14 (Bernama) – Mosques and surau should embrace digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance management and information dissemination, particularly among the younger generation, in line with the rapid growth of the digital landscape, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said.

He said technological proficiency is no longer an option but a necessity, especially in reaching young people through more creative, interactive and effective approaches.

“In an increasingly digital world, mosques and suraus must leverage technology and AI to improve management efficiency and the dissemination of information to the public,” he said after officiating Surau Nurul Muslimin in Kampung Sungai Bedil, Petra Jaya, here today.

Fadillah said AI could help expand dakwah efforts and enliven mosque and surau activities through more engaging content and wider outreach.

However, he stressed that the technology must be used wisely, ethically and responsibly to ensure its benefits are fully realised.

He also highlighted the importance of digital literacy, enabling the public to distinguish genuine information from fake news and better navigate challenges posed by social media manipulation and deepfake technology.
