ALOR SETAR, June 14 (Bernama) -- Two men, including a teenager with a learning disability who had been reported missing since last Friday, were found drowned in Sungai Kedah here today.
Kota Setar police chief ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali said the body of Saw Chee Wan, 16, was identified by his family members, who had earlier reported him missing from his home in Kampung Seberang Perak near here, located about two metres from the scene.
“The body was found lodged against a tree near Taman Pesisiran Jeragan, Ampang Jajar, by a cleaning worker from the Alor Setar City Council (MBAS) at 9 am today,” he told a press conference at the scene.
He said the body of another man, a convert to Islam identified as Muhammad Amin, or N Thiagarah, 46, from Tanjung Bendahara here, had also been reported missing on the same day, June 12.
“Investigations found that the man was a psychiatric patient. The bodies of both men were found about 100 metres apart, but investigations revealed that they were not related to each other in any way.
“A team from the Forensic Unit of the Kedah Police Contingent Headquarters arrived at the scene and conducted examinations, finding no elements of foul play,” said Syed Basri.
He said the bodies were sent to the Forensic Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) for further action.
“I urge the public not to make any speculation regarding the discovery of the two male bodies,” he said.
