MIC, MCA Back BN’s Move To Contest All Seats In Johor State Polls

JOHOR BAHRU, May 16 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties MCA and MIC have expressed full support for the coalition’s decision to contest all 56 state seats in the upcoming Johor state election.

Johor MCA Youth chief Ling Tian Soon said the decision announced today by Johor BN chairman and Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi was a bold, accurate and far-sighted move to ensure BN continues to lead Johor with stability.

“MCA fully supports the announcement made by Onn Hafiz and will work tirelessly to ensure BN continues to be given the mandate to govern the state,” he said in a Facebook post.

He said since BN formed the government with a two-thirds majority in 2022, Johor under Onn Hafiz’s leadership had recorded excellent economic performance as a result of the political stability enjoyed by the state.

Meanwhile, Johor MIC chairman K Raven Kumar said BN’s decision to move on its own strength was not about political ego, but rather to ensure the stability of the state government and continuity of the people’s development agenda.

He said MIC believed Johor did not need political manoeuvring that could create uncertainty in governance or disrupt the focus on the state’s development.

“Johor must continue to be led by a stable and experienced government that understands the aspirations of Bangsa Johor,” he said.
