MOSCOW, May 14 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- More than half of Britons believe the Labour Party, led by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, will not be able to win the next parliamentary elections, a poll conducted by Public First for Politico, showed on Thursday, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported.
Only 33 per cent of the respondents viewed Labour’s chances of re-election positively, while 53 per cent said they believed victory at the next general election was impossible.
In addition, 56 per cent of those surveyed said Labour had either failed to improve the situation in the country or had made it worse. Another 31 per cent acknowledged some positive changes but said they were insufficient, while only 6 per cent said the Labour government had fully delivered on its promises.
At the same time, 65 per cent of the respondents said Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party had a real chance of winning the next parliamentary election.
The poll was conducted among 2,031 adults in the United Kingdom between May 8 and 11. The margin of error was 2 percentage points.
Earlier in May, the Daily Mail reported that Labour could face a three-way internal power struggle following losses in regional elections held on May 7. Potential challengers to Starmer could reportedly include Health Secretary Wes Streeting and a representative of the party’s left wing, possibly Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham or former Labour leader Ed Miliband.
