Wan Hashim Appointed New MOE Sec-gen, Begins Duties Today

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- Former Ministry of Education (MOE) deputy secretary-general (Planning and Development) Datuk Wan Hashim Wan Rahim officially began his duties today as the ministry’s new secretary-general.

The MOE congratulated Wan Hashim on the appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the ministry towards more sustainable excellence in line with the nation’s educational aspirations.

“The MOE welcomes Datuk Wan Hashim Wan Rahim, who officially begins his duties today as the ministry’s new secretary-general.

“His appointment is regarded as an important continuation for the ministry, as Datuk Wan Hashim is no stranger to the country’s education sector,” the MOE said in a statement today.

A symbolic clocking-in ceremony was also held, attended by the ministry’s top leadership, including Education director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad and MOE deputy secretary-general Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak.

According to the MOE, throughout Wan Hashim’s tenure as deputy secretary-general (Planning and Development), he was known as a committed administrator with extensive expertise in project management and public policy.

He also consistently emphasised the importance of an efficient service delivery system to ensure that every ministry initiative has a positive impact on teachers, students and the wider education community.

In this regard, his vast experience in managing macro planning portfolios and school infrastructure development is expected to strengthen the implementation of the education reform agenda currently being actively pursued.

Meanwhile, the ministry also announced the appointment of Datuk Dr Megat Sany Megat Ahmad Supian as deputy secretary-general (Planning and Development), effective today. He previously served as deputy secretary-general (Policy) at the Higher Education Ministry.
