BEIJING, May 1 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The following are the indices of major stock markets worldwide, reported Xinhua.  

IN ASIA (Friday)

The S&P/ASX 200 index opened at 8,748.60 points, up 82.80 points, or 0.96 per cent.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average opened at 59,379.12 points, up 94.20 points, or 0.16 per cent.

IN THE UNITED STATES (US) (Thursday)

The S&P 500 Index closed at 7,209.01 points, up 73.06 points, or 1.02 per cent.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 49,652.14 points, up 790.33 points, or 1.62 per cent.

The Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 24,892.31 points, up 219.07 points, or 0.89 per cent.

IN EUROPE (Thursday)

The DAX Index closed at 24,292.38 points, up 337.82 points, or 1.41 per cent.

The FTSE 100 Index closed at 10,378.82 points, up 165.71 points, or 1.62 per cent.

The Paris CAC 40 closed at 8,114.84 points, up 42.71 points, or 0.53 per cent.
