Muslims Told To Avoid Events Dubious On Decency, Syariah Standards

PUTRAJAYA, May 1 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah (YADIM) urges Muslims to avoid events that could raise doubts over moral character, social boundaries and Syariah compliance.

YADIM president Datuk Dr Hasan Bahrom urged people to review their entertainment options and choose safer, more educational activities that build the spirit.

"Better to focus on shared benefits like community events, family activities, youth programmes, ethical arts, sports, charity and culture that uphold morals and harmony," he said in a statement today following widespread objections to the Rain Rave Water Music Festival 2026, which has sparked varied public reactions.

Hasan said YADIM believes the issue calls for firm but measured action, avoiding over-the-top emotions.

"In our diverse MADANI nation, event freedoms come with a duty to safeguard religious sensitivities, dignity and morals," he said.

Meanwhile, he called on organisers to show greater sensitivity to Malaysia's multi-faith, multicultural backdrop.

"Looking ahead, YADIM insists large-scale events must strictly follow guidelines that fully respect religious sensitivities, moral values and local norms.

"Failing to do so stirs up endless controversies and risks fracturing public harmony," he said.
