KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysia must remain vigilant and strengthen its national resilience against emerging cyber threats following rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said such developments underscore the need for the country, through agencies such as the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), to enhance preparedness as AI capabilities continue to evolve.
“The emergence of increasingly sophisticated AI models, including those capable of identifying vulnerabilities in widely used software systems, has raised serious concerns among governments, regulators and security agencies worldwide,” he said in his keynote address at the launch of the Huawei AI Lab and Innovation Centre here today.
Anwar said governments, regulators and security agencies are now examining the implications of advanced AI capabilities on the resilience of the infrastructure on which societies depend.
He said that while concerns over the impact of technology are not new, the world has now crossed a threshold that cannot be ignored, as recent developments show AI systems are capable of identifying critical vulnerabilities in widely used software.
The Prime Minister added that Malaysia is building its response to ensure resilience in the face of evolving digital threats while continuing to advance its digital transformation agenda.
