KOTA BHARU, April 22 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan government has launched a RM1 million Micro Credit Scheme to help local entrepreneurs, particularly small and medium enterprises facing difficulty obtaining conventional financing amid global geopolitical uncertainties.

Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said the scheme offers interest-free loans under the qard concept from RM3,000 to RM10,000, with repayment periods of three to five years.

"The scheme is designed to assist entrepreneurs who lack financial records, have irregular incomes or are unable to provide collateral," he said during the winding-up session of the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly sitting at Kompleks Kota Darulnaim here today.

Mohamed Fadzli said a briefing session was held on April 6 involving state constituency service centres to ensure proper understanding and effective implementation.

He said the participating financial institution recorded a 100 per cent repayment rate for the first two months of 2026, reflecting strong borrower discipline and confidence in the initiative.

In a separate development, Mohamed Fadzli said the state government had also approved nearly RM150,000 to sponsor 900 hawkers and small traders under the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme through the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) for 12 months.

He said the move was aimed at strengthening social protection for micro entrepreneurs against work-related risks.
