Yayasan MADANI Targets One MADANI Mart Outlet In Each State Constituency

PUTRAJAYA, April 22 (Bernama) -- Yayasan MADANI is targeting the establishment of one MADANI Mart retail outlet in every State Legislative Assembly (DUN) constituency to ensure wider public access to essential goods at affordable prices nationwide.

In a statement today, Yayasan MADANI (MADANI Mart Operations) Manager Lutfi Mohd Ariffin said the target represents a national access vision and will be implemented strategically in phases, with six Distribution Centres (DCs) to be set up nationwide.

“Each DC supports clusters of outlets within designated zones to build purchase volume, optimise logistics efficiency and ensure price stability. The expansion of outlets will be driven by pipeline readiness and supply chain strength to ensure MADANI Mart’s growth remains controlled, sustainable and resilient,” he said.

He said the foundation welcomes views and input from industry experts and experienced players on MADANI Mart as its structural and operational framework does not disregard professional input, but is instead developed with contributions from experts within the retail and supply chain ecosystem.

“MADANI Mart does not adopt the same model as Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M), and it is unfair to project the failure of previous initiatives onto MADANI Mart or any new approach,” he said.

Lutfi said MADANI Mart also does not rely on government funding or any single company to finance its CAPEX (capital expenditure) and OPEX (operating expenditure), with each outlet is individually owned and operated through the commitment and investment of the operators themselves

He said although each outlet is of moderate size, typically comprising two shop lots, they still enjoy advantages similar to large retail chains.

“This is because Yayasan MADANI acts as an ecosystem builder and incubator, enabling economies of scale through supply chain coordination, centralised support systems and a structured operational framework,” he said.

According to him, MADANI Mart is also strengthening strategic cooperation with the government through the implementation of initiatives such as Jualan Rahmah, Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) and Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR).

“This in turn helps expand public access to basic necessities at more affordable prices while supporting the nation’s cost of living agenda,” he added.

On April 3, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim officiated the country’s first MADANI Mart outlet in Indera Mahkota 8 (IM8), Pahang, implemented as a government initiative to ease the people’s cost of living.

MADANI Mart is targeting the opening of at least 640 outlets nationwide, with the goal of ensuring each State Legislative Assembly constituency has at least one outlet.
