LONDON, April 21 (Bernama-PA Media/dpa) – Barcelona and Spain attacker Lamine Yamal has claimed the inaugural Young Sportsperson of the Year at the Laureus World Sports Awards, PA Media/dpa reported.
The ceremony took place in Madrid on Monday night and Yamal was recognised for a superb 2025.
Yamal went into the new year as a European Championship winner with Spain and inspired Barca to a domestic treble last season.
The teenage sensation has kicked on this term and helped Barcelona get into a strong position to win another LaLiga title.
This is a second Laureus award for Yamal after he earned Breakthrough of the Year last April.
Aged only 18, Yamal is the youngest athlete to win two Laureus awards.
